The US State Department has restricted visits by its staff and officials to Karachi hotels and tourist attractions following security threats.

Reuters reported on Saturday, August 2, that the US Consulate in Karachi had received warnings about security threats against hotels and tourist areas. In this warning, American citizens were asked to avoid crowded places and to keep their identities secret.

The US State Department also asked citizens to reconsider travel to Pakistan due to the possibility of terrorist attacks.

The British government had previously issued similar advice to its staff and citizens in Pakistan.
