The UN Security Council held an emergency meeting following brutal Israeli airstrikes on Syrian territory, drawing widespread international condemnation and calls for immediate cessation of aggression and respect for Syria’s sovereignty.

Following continued Israeli military attacks on Syria, the United Nations Security Council convened an emergency session on Thursday in New York.

Representatives from multiple countries condemned the airstrikes and underscored the urgent need to halt hostilities and respect Syria’s territorial integrity.

The US representative claimed that Washington does not endorse Israel’s strikes on Syria, adding that the United States is working to address the ongoing situation.

China’s envoy denounced the attacks on Suwayda and Daraa, calling the targeting of Syrian government institutions a serious threat to regional stability. He demanded an immediate end to the Israeli aggression.

Slovenia’s representative also condemned the strikes and urged adherence to the 1974 ceasefire agreement. He reaffirmed his country’s support for the Syrian people in rebuilding efforts.

France expressed concern over the situation in Syria and urged Israel to refrain from destabilizing actions. The French representative said Paris is ready to support Damascus in reconstruction efforts.

Denmark’s envoy voiced concern over Israeli airstrikes on Damascus and reiterated support for Syria’s sovereignty and the extension of government authority across the country.

Pakistan’s representative described the bombings in Damascus, Daraa, and Suwayda as “a blatant violation of international law,” warning that the attacks threaten Syria’s stability and territorial unity.

South Korea urged Israel to halt incursions into Syrian territory and to comply with the 1974 ceasefire agreement.

Syria’s permanent representative to the UN, Qusay Al-Dahhak, strongly condemned the strikes, stating: “These Israeli aggressions are systematic violations aimed at dragging Syria into wider conflict.”

Saudi Arabia emphasized the unity and independence of Syrian territory and confirmed support for the Syrian people against Israeli attacks. The Saudi envoy called for guarantees to stop the strikes and backed international efforts toward inclusive political stability in Syria.

The Arab Group’s representative criticized Israel’s disregard for UN resolutions and stressed that Syria’s stability is integral to global security.

Jordan labeled the repeated Israeli strikes on “brotherly Syria” as “blatant aggression and dangerous escalation.” The Jordanian representative said, “Syria’s security is part of our own,” adding that security in southern Syria directly affects Jordan’s national stability.

Turkey’s envoy said Israel “continues to attack Syria relentlessly,” threatening the path to stability. Condemning the strikes, he warned that the aggression undermines Syria’s national reconstruction and reconciliation.

The Turkish representative added: “Syria has demonstrated its readiness to refrain from threatening neighbors, fight terrorism, and pursue stability. These attacks will not break the will of the Syrian people. The international community must not abandon them.”

The session came amid escalating Israeli air raids on civilian and government infrastructure in Syria in recent weeks, sparking regional and global concern. The Security Council has yet to issue a binding resolution on the matter.
