The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said “a real child survival crisis” exists in Gaza as famine was officially declared, warning that it is “already too late” for many children.

At least 34 Palestinians have been killed since dawn Saturday across Gaza, including eight aid seekers.

In the southern Gaza neighborhood of Asdaa, 17 people were killed in an Israeli air strike that hit tents housing displaced Palestinians, Al Jazeera reported.

Israeli forces have also conducted several raids across the occupied West Bank, including in Tulkarem, Jenin and Nablus.

The Palestinian Health Ministry reported that eight people, including two children, have died of malnutrition in Gaza in the past 24 hours.

Overall, 281 people, including 114 children, have died due to the Israel-induced starvation crisis in the enclave.

On Friday, the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) system said 514,000 people  -close to a quarter of Palestinians in Gaza– are experiencing famine.

This is the first time the IPC has recorded famine outside of Africa, and the global group has predicted that famine conditions would spread to the central and southern areas of Deir el-Balah and Khan Younis by the end of next month.

Two more people starved to death in Gaza over the past 24 hours, Gaza’s Health Ministry said, bringing the death toll from starvation and malnutrition to 273, including 112 children.

Doctors Without Borders (known by its French acronym MSF) said people in Gaza City are experiencing “starvation, disease and death” amid Israel’s ferocious military offensive to occupy the Palestinian city.

Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 62,263 people and wounded 157,365 since October 2023.
