Following efforts to expand economic cooperation with regional countries, the Republic of Tatarstan announced its readiness to implement energy and water projects in the country. Meanwhile, the Acting Minister of Energy and Water has been invited to participate in the Kazan International Energy Forum in 2026.
The Ministry of Energy and Water has announced that the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, in a meeting with the Acting Minister of the Ministry, emphasized his country’s readiness to cooperate in the implementation of energy and water projects and invited him to participate in the “Kazan International Energy Forum” to be held in April 2026.
According to the official press release of the ministry, Mullah Abdul Latif Mansur, Acting Minister of Energy and Water, met with Oleg Vladimirovich Korobchenko, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan.
At this meeting, the parties discussed and exchanged views on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding joint cooperation, especially in the energy and water sectors.
In this meeting, Korobchenko announced his country’s readiness to implement projects related to energy and water resources management, adding that Tatarstan is interested in investing in the country’s infrastructure projects.
Also in this meeting, the Acting Minister of Energy and Water raised the Panjshir to Kabul water transfer project as a strategic project and called for examining the possibility of Tatarstan’s investment in this project.
On the other hand, this Tatarstan official had also discussed expanding economic relations between the two sides in a separate meeting with Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, at the Presidential Palace.
A review of Russian-language sources shows that in recent years, the Republic of Tatarstan has pursued a policy of expanding relations with Central and South Asian countries, especially in the fields of renewable energy and water resources management. Tatarstan’s presence in energy forums has also been highlighted with the aim of exporting technology and providing technical advice.
According to economic experts, the invitation of the country’s officials to attend international energy forums is a sign of the beginning of new economic interactions with regional countries that have previously been less involved in infrastructure projects in this territory. Studies show that the Republic of Tatarstan, as one of the industrial republics of the Russian Federation, has considerable potential in the fields of oil, gas and water resources management. If this cooperation reaches a practical stage, it can help transfer technical knowledge, provide equipment and attract new investments.
