Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in a meeting with the visiting Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in Tehran.
Ayatollah Khamenei commemorated the memory of the late Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez and said the country’s position has raised awareness among many other nations in Latin America.
Ayatollah Khamenei lauded Venezuela’s stance during the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza in summer and said the diplomatic stance would fetch allies for the country as anti-Israeli hatred deeps run among the Latin American nations and beyond.
In another regard, Ayatollah Khamenei called the sharp decline in oil prices a political project by the common enemies of the two OPEC members.
Ayatollah Khamenei also approved a joint call by the two countries’ presidents for reversing the trend of decline, adding however that the two sides’ mutual exchanges must expand beyond oil.
For his part, Maduro called Iran his second house and described the mutual trust among the two states as a precious opportunity.
As for oil prices, the Venezuelan president said he was seeking to form a consensus among OPEC members and such other oil producers as Russia against the declining prices.
