In yet another act of brutality, Israeli forces launched a direct attack on Palestinian rescue workers in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, while they were carrying the bodies of martyrs.
Eyewitnesses reported that Israeli strikes deliberately targeted emergency teams engaged in humanitarian efforts.
The attack occurred as medics and volunteers were moving the remains of Palestinians killed in earlier bombings.
Local sources condemned the assault as part of Israel’s systematic crimes against civilians and relief workers in Gaza.
The incident adds to mounting evidence of what regional officials and humanitarian organizations have described as Israel’s disregard for international law and human rights.
Meanwhile, Gaza’s Government Media Office has confirmed that four journalists were among people killed by the Israeli attack on Nasser Hospital.
“The number of journalist martyrs rises to 244 after the announcement of the martyrdom of four journalists in the targeting of Nasser Hospital,” it said in a statement.
It named the slain journalists as Hossam Al-Masri, Mohammed Salama, Mariam Abu Daqa and Moaz Abu Taha.
“The journalist colleagues were martyred when the Israeli occupation committed a horrific crime by bombing a group of journalists who were on a press coverage mission at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis Governorate and many martyrs fell victim to this crime.
“We hold the Israeli occupation, the American administration, and the countries participating in the genocide crime such as the United Kingdom, Germany, and France fully responsible for committing these heinous brutal crimes.”
Israel has killed at least 62,622 people and wounded 157,673 in its genocidal war on Gaza.
