Iran FM Calls for OIC Meeting on Gaza Situation

According to Taghrib News Agency, Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, sent a letter to Hissein Brahim Taha, the Secretary-General of the OIC, as well as to Hakan Fidan and Faisal bin Farhan, the Foreign Ministers of Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

He requested an emergency meeting of the OIC to examine the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, coordinate the provision of urgent aid, and review the legal and political implications of the Zionist regime’s intention for the permanent occupation of Gaza.

Text of the Foreign Minister’s Letter

In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

His Excellency Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation
Your Excellency,

With utmost concern and a sense of moral and political urgency, I once again write to you regarding the escalating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip; a situation that has now become one of the most dire crises facing the Islamic Ummah and the international community. The conditions in Gaza have surpassed the threshold of human tolerance. What is happening is not merely a humanitarian crisis—it is the systematic destruction of a besieged civilian population. The scale and intensity of the crimes committed demand immediate and coordinated action.

The latest statistics and reports from all credible humanitarian institutions and media sources indicate that the civilian population of Gaza is facing a situation that can only be described by one word: genocide.

Equally concerning is the growing evidence of the occupying regime’s strategic and unlawful intent to re-occupy and fully annex Gaza. Statements by senior officials of the Zionist regime, along with their military movements and political stances, indicate a deliberate plan to erase Gaza’s territorial and political identity through permanent control, demographic engineering, and the destruction of any prospect for Palestinian sovereignty. High-ranking officials of the occupying regime have explicitly spoken of their intention to “eliminate Gaza as a political entity.” This is not a mere tactical shift—it indicates a strategic design to destroy Palestinian sovereignty through permanent territorial occupation, forced population displacement, and demographic engineering.

Given these developments and within the framework of the OIC Charter and previous procedures for holding extraordinary meetings of the Council of Foreign Ministers, I hereby formally request that an emergency meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers be held as soon as possible at the General Secretariat headquarters in Jeddah.
The purpose of this meeting will be to review the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and coordinate the provision of urgent aid, examine the legal and political dimensions of the Zionist regime’s intention for the permanent occupation of Gaza, adopt a unified stance and executive measures—including diplomatic, legal, and economic tools—to stop the aggression and ensure accountability, and also to reaffirm the centrality of the Palestinian issue to the OIC and defend the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, sovereignty, and return. This meeting must be the starting point for coordinated and actionable steps to stop the aggression and restore justice.

Your Excellency, I respectfully request that you initiate the necessary consultations with member states and make the executive arrangements for this meeting as soon as possible, in accordance with regulatory frameworks and with due consideration for the urgency of the matter.
