Israeli occupation forces admit 78 soldiers killed by their own fire in Gaza, highlighting military blunders amid ongoing massacres of Palestinians.
The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) reported that 78 officers and soldiers have been killed by friendly fire or operational mishaps since the beginning of the war on Gaza, while another 1,998 have been wounded.
In total, 899 troops have been killed since the start of the war, including 455 during the ground offensive in Gaza. The overall number of wounded has reached 6,210, with 925 in serious condition.
During the ground invasion alone, 2,880 soldiers were injured, 552 of them seriously.
‘Israel’ admits officer killed, Resistance strikes in Gaza City
The Israeli military confirmed on Saturday that an officer was killed in southern Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip, according to Israeli media reports. He was a platoon commander in the Kfir Brigade’s Shimshon Battalion from Meitar.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Resistance continues its operations against the invading Israeli forces across multiple fronts, inflicting both human and material losses on the Israeli military.
The al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced that they had targeted two Israeli tanks with high-explosive improvised explosive devices (IEDs), east of the al-Rawda site in the southern al-Zaytoun neighborhood of Gaza City. The Brigades reported that its fighters observed a rescue force arriving at the scene.
The al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades released footage documenting a joint operation with the al-Nasser Salah al-Din Brigades, the military wing of the Popular Resistance Committees, in which they targeted a gathering of Israeli soldiers and military vehicles with mortar shells in the vicinity of Villas Street, north of Khan Younis.
On August 22, the al-Qassam Brigades announced that they had fatally shot an Israeli soldier with machine gun fire as he exited a Merkava tank in the vicinity of Badr Mosque, south of the al-Zaytoun neighborhood in Gaza City.
Additionally, the al-Quds Brigades stated that it shelled Israeli military machinery positioned near the al-Muhandis Hall in the al-Satar al-Gharbi area of northern Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip using standard 60mm mortar rounds.
Before that, on August 21, the al-Quds Brigades released footage of a coordinated ambush, carried out jointly with the al-Qassam Brigades, that targeted Israeli armored vehicles with explosives and anti-tank shells east of the al-Shujaiya neighborhood in Gaza City.
