Water supply network completed in Kandahar worth over 5 million Afghanis

The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development has announced that the construction of a water supply network in Panjwai district of Kandahar province has been completed and the project has been put into operation.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The press office of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development issued a press release saying that this water supply network was built in Rigwa village of Panjwai district of Kandahar province through the Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department of that province and at a cost of over 5 million Afghanis.

According to the press release, this project includes the construction of a water reservoir with a capacity of 30 cubic meters, the installation of 59 water taps, 20 solar panels and 4,000 meters of piping.

According to officials, during the construction of this network, temporary job opportunities were provided to dozens of workers and after the completion of the project, 59 families in Rigwa village have gained access to safe drinking water.

It is worth noting that yesterday, another water supply network in Kandahar was completed and put into operation by the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development.

According to observers, the increase in water supply projects in rural areas indicates the government’s focus on developing service infrastructure in the south of the country.

Studies show that such projects, in addition to improving access to drinking water, play a significant role in short-term job creation and strengthening public confidence. On the other hand, in conditions of humanitarian crisis and shortage of water resources, such initiatives can also prevent possible social tensions in the future.
