A key commander of Taliban, Mullah Kheirullah, was killed during clashes with Afghan security forces in Farayb province, officials announced.
Kheirullah, nom de Guerre Abu Zuhr, was shot dead in a clash between the Taliban militants and security forces today when Taliban attacked a police patrol in Shirin Tagab area in Faryab province, Shirin Tagab Governor Luqman Gahrik said on Sunday.
On Tuesday, at least 17 Taliban insurgents were killed in separate air and ground raids of the Afghan National Security Forces in North of Afghanistan.
A Taliban commander was killed along with his 11 fighters during a clearance operation in Southern Helmand province.
The Afghanistan Ministry of Defense said the clearance operations were launched in Khanshin district of Helmand which led to the killing of Mullah Yousuf and his 11 companions, Khaama Press reported.
According to the statement, at least 6 militants operating under the command of Mullah Yousuf were also wounded during the operation.
The Taliban militants group has not commented on the report so far.
On Wednesday, the Afghan Ministry of Defense said at least 6 militants were killed and 14 others were wounded during an airstrike in Chashme Sherin in the capital of Sar-e-Pul province.
A statement by the ministry said at least 4 others were during a separate operation in Gorkab village at Soma Qala district of Sar-e-Pul province.
The statement further added that 6 others were also wounded and 2 vehicles of the militants were totally damaged along with 4 bunkers.
The Ministry said at least 7 militants were killed during a gun battle between the Afghan security forces and Taliban insurgents in Koshinde district of Balkh province.
At least 4 militants were killed and their bunker was destroyed during an airstrike in Darqad district of Northeastern Takhar province, Afghan Ministry of Defense said.
According to the statement, the Afghan forces also discovered and defused a landmine along with an Improvised Explosive Device planted by the Taliban militants in Aqcha district of Jawzjan province.
The Taliban militants group has not commented regarding the report so far.
