Takfiri rebels launch counter-offensive near Turkish border

The takfiri rebels, led by Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group), launched a counter-offensive near the Turkish border-crossing this morning after losing several sites to the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in a matter of 48 hours.

Jabhat Al-Nusra, alongside the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and Jaysh Al-Turkmen, attacked the Syrian Marines at the villages of ‘Ayn ‘Issa, Shahrourah, and Naourah in the Turkmen Mountains of northern Latakia this morning.

So far, no gains have been reported by the jihadist rebels; however, the assault has also just begun and will likely intensify in the coming hours as their fighters attempt to recapture the territory they lost to the government forces.
