Syrian Army Expanding Buffer Zone around Damascus

The Syrian Army troops continued their anti-terrorism operations in Eastern Damascus, stretching their chain of security around the capital and its countryside.

Sources reported that the army soldiers, backed up by the artillery and missile units, engaged in fierce clashes with Al-Nusra Front (also known as Fatah al-Sham Front or the Levant Liberation Board) in Ein Terma and drove them out of 18 positions and building blocks near the petrol station, killing and wounding a number of terrorists.

They added that the army men also went through numerous buildings and reached the Ein Terma conjunction area that is located next to the al-Kheir market place.

Another field source said that the army units have continued operation in the region to separate Jobar district from Eastern Ghouta to reinvigorate security of the capital after carrying out cleansing operation in Jobar.

Relevant reports said on Tuesday that the army forces engaged in clashes with al-Nusra Front (also known as Fatah al-Sham Front or the Levant Liberation Board) terrorists who had launched an offensive against the military points near Be’r al-Qasab and Rajm al-Sarikhi regions in Southeastern Damascus and repelled their offensive.

During the clashes, the army forces killed a large number of militants and destroyed 5 of their military vehicles, a missile-launcher, an anti-tank missile launchpad and a mortar-launcher.

They also launched counter-operation against the terrorists near Be’r al-Qasab region and regained control of a three-km area in the Southeastern parts of Rajm al-Sarikhi region.

Also, in the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, the Syrian army recaptured several buildings in the Northern parts of al-Manar driving training center after fierce clashes with the terrorists, and reached areas near Ein Terma bridge.
