Strong Quake Rocks Japan’s Kanto Region

A 5.6-Richter earthquake with an epicenter in Southern Ibaraki Prefecture occurred on Monday, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.

Local residents and media also confirmed they felt a rather strong jolt throughout the Kanto region, the Japan Times reported.

Also, A lower 5 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7 was registered in Omitama in the prefecture.

Another moderate aftershock was recorded in other municipalities in Ibaraki Prefecture, the tremble was also felt in Tochigi, Saitama, Chiba and Kanagawa prefectures.

No tsunami warning has been issued.
