Unknown gunmen abducted a senior commander of a terrorist group affiliated to the Free Syrian Army (FSA), media reports said.
Mohammad Khalil, senior commander of Lawa al-Moatasem terrorist group affiliated to the FSA, was kidnapped by armed men, the Arabic-language Al-Akhbar newspaper quoted unnamed local sources as saying on Monday.
Khalil was on his way to return to Marea town when he was abducted.
Meantime, Head of Lawa al-Motasem’s political office Mostafa Sijari said that a group known as al-Hayat al-Sharia is behind the abduction.
The Lawa al-Moatasem is stationed in the Northern part of Aleppo province.
In late May, local sources said that several terrorists were killed in clashes between the ISIL and the coalition of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and al-Shamiyeh Front in the Northern territories of Aleppo province near the border with Turkey.
“The ISIL terrorists stormed strongholds of al-Shamiyeh and FSA near the villages of Tal Hussein, Tatiyah, Baryshah and Janhat in the Eastern side of the town of Azaz a few kilometers South of Aleppo border with Turkey,” the sources said.
“The ISIL pushed its rivals back from the villages,” the sources said, adding, “Heavy death toll on both sides was reported.”
