Israeli troops on Sunday shot and killed a Palestinian girl in the flashpoint city of Hebron (al-Khalil), West Bank, after she allegedly attempted to stab Israeli soldiers.
The incident set off a clash between Palestinian residents — who said they were seeking to help the wounded woman — and Israeli security forces who fired bullets, witnesses and Palestinian medics said, AFP reported.
Two people were hurt by bullets but their injuries were not believed to be serious, according to the medics.
No injuries were reported on the Israeli side.
The assault was the latest in a string of violence in the occupied territories, which has left nearly 130 Palestinians dead since early October.
