Iran, as the president of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM)و strongly condemned Israel’s crimes in the Palestinian territories, and called on the international community, particularly the UN Security Council (UNSC), to break silence on the Israeli crimes.
Speaking in a UN meeting on the Gaza war on Tuesday, Iran’s Permanent Representative to the UN Gholam Hossein Dehqani underlined that Tehran as the NAM Chairman supports the Palestinian nation against the Zionist occupation forces.
Dehqani urged the UNSC to stop Tel Aviv attacks and end the Gaza siege.
NAM is an international organization of states considering themselves not formally aligned with or against any major power bloc. NAM is the largest grouping of countries outside of the United Nations.
NAM member states represent nearly two-thirds of the United Nations’ members and comprise 55% of the world population, particularly countries considered to be developing or part of the Third World.
Israel has been pounding the blockaded Gaza for 16 consecutive days, killing at least 670 people and injuring more than 4,000 others.
