Iraqi Army within 5 km of downtown Fallujah

The Iraqi Army’s 34th Brigade, backed by the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) and Federal Police, are now within 5 km of downtown Fallujah after making several important advances on Thursday.

In particular, the Iraqi Armed Forces recaptured the small village of Albu Suwet, which is located directly south of Fallujah city.

The Iraqi Armed Forces were able to liberate Albu Suwet after conducting a powerful counter-assault at the southern perimeter of the village; this resulted in the death of 15 terrorists from the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS).

As the Islamic State’s defenses collapse inside of Fallujah, the Iraqi Armed Forces are taking the opportunity to seize several points outside the city, including the area near Al-Ramadi’s eastern flank.
