Iraqi Army Kills 36 ISIL Militants, Rescue 8 Hostages in Northwest of Babylon


Iraq’s Interior Ministry announced that the army in cooperation with volunteers from Babylon, liberated Gazai area of the Jurf al-Sakar in the Northwest of Hillah, after killing 36 militants from the ISIL and rescuing 8 unarmed civilians who were used by the terrorist group as human shields.

The ministry said in a statement today that “an army force and volunteers managed to free the Gazai area Northwest of Hilla, and saved 8 of the unarmed civilians captured and used by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) as human shields, and killed 36 terrorists”, Iraq’s national news agency reported.

The statement added that “the force dismantled 6 roadside bombs and blew up all the booby-trapped houses,” noting that the force had found four workshops used by the terrorists for making improvised explosive devices and car bombs.
