Iranian researchers discover head, face massage reduces Alzheimer patients’ anxiety


Iranian researchers have discovered that face and head massage in patients suffering Alzheimer could noticeably lessen their anxiety.

The researchers of Rafsanjan Medical Sciences University have found out that the method dramatically reduces anxiety of these patients and could lessen stress and challenges that patient and his family go through by instructing this method to nurses and caregivers.
The method poses less danger and is economical.

The researchers used effleurage and petrissage methods of massage in the study.

The patients were divided into two groups with one received the face and head massage and the second group did not.

The results of the study showed that the method could dramatically reduce anxiety in the patients and can be carried out by nurses and caregivers.
