Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance and Chairman of the 10th Conference of Islamic Countries Information Ministers (ICIM) said that Palestine is a key issue for the Islamic World.

Ali Jannati made the remarks in a joint press conference with OIC Secretary General Iyad Ameen Madani at the end of conference here on Wednesday.

Jannati added that Tehran conference focused on convergent of media for peace and calm in the Islamic world.

He continued that spread of terrorism, violence, radicalism and growth of Takfiri groups in the Islamic world and presenting an incorrect and altered image of Islam, which is practically supported by the western media, has formed a kind of Islamo phobia in the West.

Disputes, religious and sectarian discords are among other problems which the Islamic world is suffering from, added Jannati.

He said that Palestine issue was one of the problems, which most speakers in the meeting paid attention to.

OIC was mainly established to support Palestine and holy Quds and a committee named ‘Quds Committee’ is following issues related to Palestine regularly, said Jannati.

Chairman of the conference said that Palestine problem has political, economic, media and information aspects and in this meeting we underlined the issue of using media for supporting Palestine and disclosing crimes of the Zionist regime against innocent people of Palestine.

Jannati underlined that Palestine independent state should be formed with the holy Quds as its capital and this is the aim of Islamic countries.

He added that all media from Islamic countries are supporting the idea.

To a question concerning establishment of joint TV and Radio in Islamic countries, the minister said that the issue of forming a network has been proposed from past and today a number of ministers and delegations underlined establishment of it.

On a question concerning media convergence, which could be formed after a political convergence, Jannati said when there is a political dispute, naturally, we would not have a media convergence.

However, if media convergence exists, it could affect political issues and make countries closer to each other.

Jannati continued that Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has other meetings in the level of foreign ministers, which political disputes could be discussed there, but our meeting was with Information Ministers.

To a question about influence of governments on media, Jannati said in many Islamic countries, such as Lebanon and Iraq, there are tens of private TV networks.

He concluded holding such meetings will help make thoughts closer to each other and would help countries face better with challenges.
