Iranian Deputy FM: US Seeking Only to Control ISIL

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian underlined that the US has formed a coalition against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant not to destroy, but just to control it.

“The US has created the anti-ISIL coalition with the participation of 60 countries, but the coalition’s main practical measure is confined to controlling and administering the ISIL …,” Amir Abdollahian said, addressing the Second Conference Themed ‘Global Order, Regional Development and Foreign Policy’ in Tehran on Monday.

He pointed to the US supply of arms and food aids to the ISIL, and said, “The US military planes supply the ISIL in Iraq and Syria with foodstuff and arms in the regions that the ISIL is on the verge of losing control.”

Amir Abdollahian said that the US always claims that it has made miscalculations, “but how can one make a 900-kilometer mistake in distance.”

The Iranian deputy foreign minister said that although they western countries are aware of the threat of terrorism, they use terrorism for achieving their goals.

US President Barack Obama has on different occasions underlined that his government’s policy is to contain and control the ISIL for the sake of US security interests.

Last week, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Hassan Firouzabadi said that the US, Britain and Israel have created and supported the ISIL terrorist group to wage a war against the Muslim states.

“The phenomenon of the ISIL is a terroristic move that has been created against our neighbors in Iraq, Syria and other Muslim  countries by Zionism, Britain and the US …,” General Firouzabadi told reporters.

He noted that the arrogant powers are using the ISIL because of its extremely violent behavior to achieve their goals.

Last month, Iranian Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri warned of the threat of the ISIL terrorist group against the regional states, and said the group is serving the Zionist regime’s long-term interests.

Jahangiri made the remarks in a meeting with Ayatollah Eshaq Fayyaz in Baghdad.

Felicitating the victories of the Iraqi government, nation and army, he said that Iraq was faced with a huge plot that could harm that country’ entirety.

Jahangiri added that the threat was in fact against the entire Shiite population of the region, but thanks to the alertness of the sources of jurisprudence and scholars, the people rushed to the scene and eliminated the threat to a great extent.

The Iranian vice-president said that the threat of ISIL terrorist group would not be limited to Iraq as it was after occupation of the other regional countries as well as defaming the dear Islam throughout the world and serving the racist Zionists’ long-term interests.

“Iraq is fighting against the ISIL terrorists on behalf of the Islamic world, and even the entire world nations, and we hope the Iraqi and Syrian nations will manage to rid the world of the nuisance of the terrorists,” he added.
