Chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi has said that Iran has arrested several terrorists that Daesh had sent from Iraq and Syria.
“Several terrorists who had been dispatched to Iran from the ISIL’s hotspots pf Mosul and Raqqa in Iraq and Syria, respectively, have been identified and arrested by the Iranian security forces,” Chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Thursday.
In a relevant development on Wednesday, the Iranian intelligence ministry announced in a statement that the country’s security forces have traced and captured or killed 102 members of a terrorist group who carried out operations mostly in Western and Northwestern Iran.
“102 members and supporters of the Takfiri terrorist group called Tohid and Jahad have been identified in operations and prosecuted judicially; some of them have been killed in armed clashes with the Law Enforcement Police and security forces and a number of others have been arrested and executed or sentenced to prison terms,” the statement said.
The statement said that the group has a record of armed robbery, attacks against the police forces and killing civilians and governmental officials.
The terrorist group had killed 20 Iranian people and wounded 40 others in different cities of Western and Northwestern Iran, including Kurdistan people’s representative at the Assembly of Experts martyr Mohammad Sheikholeslam and prominent Sunni cleric martyr Borhan Aali, it added.
The statement came after a commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps announced last month that the IRGC forces dismantled two terrorist groups in Northwestern Iran, killing 23 militants.
“Two teams of terrorists were fully annihilated in Northwestern Iran,” Deputy Commander of the IRGC’s Hamzeh Seyed al-Shohada base in Northwestern Iran Brigadier General Majid Arjmandifar told reporters in the Northwestern city of Zanjan.
He also said that during the clashes 23 terrorists of the same groups were killed by the IRGC forces.
Noting that the terrorist groups were supported by foreign countries, Arjmandifar said, “Since last year, the intelligence networks of Saudi Arabia and the US have focused on plots to foment insecurity in Iran;” FNA reported.
