Hamas leader Haniyeh to visit Iran Sunday

Haniyeh will arrive in Tehran on Sunday to attend the 7th General Assembly of the Islamic Radio and Television Union, Fars News Agency reported.

According to the report, the Hamas leader is scheduled to deliver a speech at the meeting.

This is Haniyeh’s third visit to Iran since Hamas took charge of the Gaza Strip through public elections in 2007.

The Hamas leader’s last visit to Iran took place in February 2012, during which he met senior Iranian officials, including Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, to discuss developments across the Middle East and Palestine.
