At least thirty suspected militants were killed and their six hideouts were destroyed in fresh air strikes carried out by Pakistani fighter jets on Tuesday in North Waziristan tribal region of Pakistan bordering Afghanistan.

“Pakistani fighter jets targeted six militants’ hideouts in Datta Khel, Marsikhel, and Kamsham areas of North Waziristan killing thirty militants,” said the media wing of Pakistan military, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Dawn news agency reported.

Pakistan launched a comprehensive military operation on June 15 against the local and foreign militants in North Waziristan following a brazen attack at the country’s largest airport in Karachi city.

“Earlier on Monday, at least seven Uzbek militants and two soldiers of Pakistan army were killed during the ongoing military operation in North Waziristan while the clearance was in progress,” ISPR added.

The ongoing operation has displaced over 0.9 mln people from the tribal areas and around 520 militants have been killed so far.
