A copper mine collapsed in south-east Turkey on Thursday, killing three workers and trapping 13 others inside, reports said.

The privately-owned mine near the town of Sirvan, in Siirt province, caved in following a landslide in the region, the private outlet NTV television said.

Several ambulances and rescue teams were dispatched to the area and rescuers recovered the bodies of three of miners, reports said.

The miners were working a night shift at the time of the collapse.
