A commander of the Federation of Syrian Forces blasted the Riyadh government for implementing Israel’s policies in region.
“Anyone who analyzes Saudi Arabia’s stances on the Zionist regime and the Syrian government will realize that Saudi Arabia is directly serving Israel’s interests,” the Arabic-language media outlets quoted Commander of the Federation of Syrian Forces Fajr Zeidan as saying said on Saturday.
Zeidan underlined that the Saudi regime’s interests are intertwined with the interests of the US and Israel.
“Who benefits from the destruction of the government of President Bashar Assad who is resisting against Israel and is trying to liberate all Syrian territories from the occupying Zionists,” Zeidan asked.
In early May, Abdel Bari Atwan, the editor-in-chief of Rai al-Youm newspaper, revealed that Saudi officials are making covert efforts to further normalize relations with Israel to make up for the United States’ fading support.
In an editorial in Rai al-Youm daily, Atwan referred to the recent debate between Prince Turki bin Faisal, Saudi Arabia’s former intelligence chief and a one-time ambassador to Washington, and retired IDF Maj. Gen. Yaakov Amidror, former national security advisor to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and said the most important conclusion of this debate is that Saudi Arabia is paving the ground for strategic cooperation with Israel instead of the US which has turned its face away in opposition to Riyadh’s wars that aim to weaken Iran.
He said no doubt, these talks and handshakings framed in official reports and photos are aimed at convincing the Saudi and then the Muslim world public opinion not to stand against the normalization of ties between Riyadh and Tel Aviv.
“But these actions merely show that the Saudis are feeling confused and deeply frightful of the dire repercussions of their wrong policies in the region,” Atwan said.
