Tolga Çandar, the CHP MP for Muğla has revealed that Israelis have purchased the whole of the Iğdır Plain and more than half of the Harran Plain.
The CHP MPs for Muğla Nurettin Demir, Ömer Süha Aldan and Tolga Çandar were holding a joint press conference against the privatization of the energy enterprises, during which Tolga Çandar also brought up the sales of land to foreigners in the region in his speech.
Çandar emphasised the point that a large field had been purchased by an unknown buyer near the Karacahisar village of Milas district of Muğla; the field encompasses the location where construction of a coal plant is planned to service the famous tourism hub, Bodrum:
“We particularly want somebody to announce the nationality of the recipient company. What is the possibility for this country to buy the entire Iğdır Plain. Israelis have purchased the whole of the Iğdır Plain and more than half of the Harran Plain. A significant portion of our cultivated area in Turkey is being purchased by Israelis themselves or by their partner companies. The companies of which country are partners in the purchase of an area which is left for the construction of a golf course? They bought these lands paying just one or two dollars per metre square. A significant portion of this land is a protected area in the first degree. They confiscated the lands of local people at no expense.”
