’Baghdad Operations’ Denies Saudi TV News on ISIL’s Control over Baghdad Airport

Spokesman for the Baghdad Operations Brigadier General Saad Maan strongly denied a report by Saudi Arabia’s Hadath TV claiming that Baghdad airport has come under the control of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants.

At a news conference on Monday, Maan stressed that the Baghdad airport is safe and that flights are natural and on schedule, Al-Manar reported.

The website of the Saudi TV channel had said earlier that “the area North of Baghdad International Airport has seen violent clashes, and a number of mortar shells targeted the main building of the airport.

“The airport is witnessing tight security measures and several flights have been cancelled,” Al-Arabiya website added.
