Afghanistan: Imam Sahib District of Kunduz Cleared Of Taliban


A military spokesman claimed that about 80 Taliban terrorists had been killed in the three-day operation of the Afghan Army troops in Kunduz.

Jawed Salim, a spokesman for the army’s Special Forces, said on Saturday that Imam Sahib district of Kunduz province has been cleared of Taliban terrorists, TOLO news reported.

According to Salim, during a three day operation 80 insurgents were killed and 120 others were wounded.

Three Afghan soldiers were killed and four others were wounded during the clearance operation, Salim said.

During the operation Special Forces managed to push back insurgents who had held an army base under siege, Salim said.

Salim said that foreign forces also assisted government forces during the operation.
