6.4 Magnitude Quake Hits in Indian Ocean

A 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck Saturday in the South of the Indian Ocean at a depth of 7.1 km, USGS reported.

The closest land to the epicenter is the Cocos Islands, located 675km East Southeast, RT reported.

A tsunami warning was issued following the tremor, but residents of the islands are not required to evacuate, only to move away from waterfront.
