Two people have been killed and six others wounded after a huge explosion hit an army checkpoint outside the Eastern Libyan city of Benghazi late on Wednesday, said an army official.

A car exploded in Barsis, located East of the port city, the official said, adding that the blast was apparently a suicide attack, Reuters reported.

A suicide bomber hit the same army checkpoint in December.
